Upcycled Antique Dresser

I've been redoing my room for awhile now. I finally got around to painting the furniture! Woooo! I chose coral as my pop color against the grey walls. I was doing a color report and read that coral inspired creativity so it was a win-win really since my room was also doubling as my craft room.

Before being painted, but after sanding and a little handy work from gramps.
Thanks grampy! <3

I took off all the nobs and sanded them down. I was on a hunt for vintage nobs, but was never able to find any so I decided to use a little modge podge and some old maps. I loved using the maps because it brought out the coral color and I was then able to use the other colors in the map to decorate the rest of my room.

The glass doors were really pretty, but since I was using the dresser for storage purposes for things like clothes it wasn't really convenient, so I brought in the maps again. I couldn't be happier with the outcome!

Specialty Embroidery

Ever since I was little my parent's friend, Shane has been around. I always had a little crush on him and it became a joke that he was my future husband. Years later the joke still lives on. We pick and poke at each other all the time, so when he handed me his bibs to fix he knew he'd be getting something. Especially after hearing and seeing the glove repair. Being his gutsy self he left them in my care and told me if I fixed them he'd even give me a sort of payment. No, it wasn't for my hand in marriage... but monetary. Kind of bittersweet. Anyways, after fixing the zipper I gave him a little somethin' somethin' to remember me by. Now I'll always be close to his heart.

A Glove Repair for Papa Bear

To get the humor in this (if you still find any in the first place) you have to understand my dad is NOT a touchy feely emotional kinda guy. I'll have to dig up a picture, his looks even show! (I've lived with him for years ... and I still find him to be kinda scary looking.) Anyhow, he asked me to fix a pair of his work gloves, he's a forklift driver for GM so I guess it kinda got worn down. I went to sew it with the handy dandy sewing machine only coming to find out I'd have to be such a doll and hand sew it. So I did ... and added a little extra embroidery to it, too! (My family calls me 'Tay' because my middle name is Taylor, sorry if that caused a bit of confusion)

There he is ... very approachable look to him, ay? (Ignore how awful I look in this picture, it's from 2009. I am aware you could probably eat cereal from the dimples in my cheeks.)
